Deadly force is not appropriate for property crimes. He killed somebody who wasn't a threat to his own life, or the lives and safety of others. And he did it by laying a trap, which indicates planning. So murder is the appropriate sentence here. It sucks because he was tired of getting robbed. But murder is not the proper level of force for that. So that I am understanding correctly: This man rigged his rifle, so as to avoid any theft or robbery on his property. There were also signs posted on his property stating “do not enter”. To which the criminal had ignored (or didn’t read, as criminals don’t stop to read signs, they are on a mission to do whatever they intend to do) broke the lock and entered. When the criminal entered the shed he was fatally shot. The Just here for the halftime show rugby shirt in this picture is the homeowner of that property and he was found guilty of First-degree murder. My father was a police officer of Cook County many years ago (RIP) and one of the things he always taught us was if someone even touches our doorknob, and clearly there for no good reason but to cause harm, injury, etc. “Shoot and drag them in”
